Day Shift Direct Support Professional

Work Summary:

Monitor and assist developmentally disabled individuals with daily life skills. Escort individuals to activities and assist in socialization skills. Prepare meals and maintain a clean and healthy environment in the home/facility. Implement, run, and document programs and objectives as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assure that the residents reside in a safe, clean, and healthy environment.
  2. Monitor the residents in their hygiene and assist as needed. This will include bathing dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  3. Monitor the residents in their daily chores and assist as needed.
  4. Write and submit incident reports in a timely manner and/or write incidents on individual’s log.
  5. Attain and remain current in Medication Delivery, MANDT, First Aid, and CPR Certification.
  6. Supervise individuals, as needed, when they take medication.
  7. Take individuals to appointments as assigned. Document any doctor’s orders on required paperwork.
  8. Escort individuals on at least one weekly recreational outing and assist with daily leisure activities. All outings must be appropriate. Record all recreational outings and leisure activities on logs.
  9. Assist with daily housekeeping of the facility. This includes but is not limited to vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, mopping, and washing dishes.
  10. Assist with daily meal preparation and adhere to any designated dietary needs and menus. Document any changes in the menus. Monitor individuals during meals and assist as needed.
  11. Maintain an atmosphere that encourages the individuals to live and work in the least restrictive and most appropriate environment.

Education and Experience Required:

High School degree or equivalent. Developmental Disabilities Orientation Training and Group Home Orientation must be completed before the first shift. Must complete First Aid and CPR Certification within 30 days of hire. Must obtain Medication Delivery Certification within 30 days of hire. Must be capable of lifting/moving a person utilizing the two-man MANDT lift. Must have a valid Montana Driver’s license
